ACM Policy Statement

The ACM is an organisation in Western Sydney that has tried to enable and encourage all Aboriginal People by offering processes to eradicate welfare dependency.

Welfare dependency has been the most crippling problem that Aboriginal People have had to deal with in all areas. Some government and some non-government programs seem to ignore the importance of allowing Aboriginal People to become self-sufficient in Aboriginal ways.

The result of some government policy has been that Aboriginal People have been trained in Non-Aboriginal based programs that support/result in assimilation and welfare-dependency.
The Aboriginal Catholic Ministry has avoided the hand-out mentality by encouraging Aboriginal People to work in teams and families so as to confront their economic and cultural problems in Aboriginal ways.
