What is this appeal for?

The ACM is a Community Centre for Aboriginal & torres Strait Islander people who live in Western Sydney including the Penrith, Mt Druitt, St Marys and Blacktown areas. The Centre is open to all Aboriginal people regardless of denomination and functions as a Drop-in Centre, Learning Centre and Arts Workshop.

We have A Carers Group, a Domestic Violence Group and run family weekends and Healing Workshops. Recently we ran a Drug & Alcohol Workshops for teenagers. Many of the young people come into the Centre are drug and alcohol addicted from an early age and do not attend school. We would like to assist these young people.


How will the funds be used?

We would like to extend our counselling services to the Aboriginal youth of the area. We would provide counselling for individuals and run groups where some elders would come to Centre and provide activities. We would also like to take the young people on camps to widen their horizons and give them a new experience apart from their daily experience of drugs, alcohol and crime.
